Previous year I added sharing buttons to the end of each post so one could easily share a post with others. These buttons were looking like this
But I felt it was time for some changes. I wanted to have these share buttons take up less space and also wanted to add additional sharing options (Pocket, email and printing). After some tinkering with HTML, CSS and Font Awesome
Not so long ago I read a short conversation on twitter about embedding Instagram posts into posts on the Blot.im platform.

So nothing out-of-the-box as of yet. I couldn’t resist in looking into this and see how hard this would be. The short answer is: “It would be very easy to add”.

With the new feature of Blot to use OS X bookmarks to quickly post interesting sites to your own blog I already wrote how to use it on a platform other that a Mac.
But wouldn’t it also be nice to be able to share a bookmark to your blog when you only have access to a mobile device, specifically an iOS device…
Out-of-the-box Safari on iOS has no way to save a bookmark other than as a regular bookmark. Good thing iOS has a share sheet and Workflow app.
I built the following workflow using the Workflow app that enables you to save out a bookmark file to Dropbox. The workflow has been setup as a share sheet extension so anywhere you have the ability to share an URL this extension would work.
Recently David added bookmark support to Blot which makes use of bookmarks dragged out of Safari into a folder named Links
(but it could be anywhere in Blot’s app folder). Since Apple now only provides Safari on platforms OS X and iOS, Blot subscribers not making use of a Mac are left out.
For my daytime job I am making use of a Windows based machine, so if I during the day come across a link I want to share on the link blog I would have to make sure to remember (yeah, sure…) this when I get home and have access to my Mac.
Luckily these OS X bookmark files are just plain text files with a specific content. Meaning that you will be able to make use of this feature regardless of your choice of computing platform.
