Apps for April 2016
Almost hard to believe but I have not purchased any apps during the month of April

This weekend I have completed the built of the GBC module Catch and Release (designed by Akiyuki). This is one of the smallest GBC modules designed by Akiyuki (only 717 parts), and will only take a couple of hours to build. The instructions and part list are available on Eurobricks.
There are no technical challenges or timing issues to be tackled like there are with the Ball Factory (also designed by Akiyuki), making this a good GBC module to start out with. Only tricky part for this module are the rubber bands, you will have to play around a little to make sure the grippers are closed enough to grip a ball, but not too close that will prevent a ball from being grabbed (The presentation topic has some pointers).
After the changes I made yesterday to the configuration of the web server and getting the A rating on SSL Server Test, I thought to myself ‘Why not try to go for the A+ rating’. Some quick searches learned that this could be achieved by implementing HSTS (HTTP Strict Transport Security.
HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) is a policy mechanism that allows a web server to enforce the use of TLS in a compliant User Agent (UA), such as a web browser. HSTS allows for a more effective implementation of TLS by ensuring all communication takes place over a secure transport layer on the client side. Most notably HSTS mitigates variants of man in the middle (MiTM) attacks where TLS can be stripped out of communications with a server, leaving a user vulnerable to further risk.

This week I was listening to the More Than Just Code podcast #85 and one the picks this time was Qualys-SSL Labs for their SSL Server Test. This prompted me to test my own web server www.littlegemsoftware.com. The test gave me a disappointing C-rating with several issues
Here is an overview of all the apps I have bought for my iOS devices and/or Mac during the month of March.

Not really a purchase during this month, I have been using Overcast for quit some time now. But I did use the patronage option to sent some cash Marco Arment’s way. It also allowed me to use the new features added in version 2.5. I like to use dark theme’s in applications whenever possible, so I was more then happy to pay for it. The only downside is the feature stops working after the patronage period expires… |

Blot.im does not have a feature to automatically posting a notification of a new blog post to for instance Twitter. And based on the following tweet from David, it is not something that will be (ever) added to Blot.im
